The New Zealand Rural General Practice Network is a membership and support organisation for rural health professionals. Based in Wellington, the Network’s national membership and advocacy includes both rural practices and individual members covering more than 1800 doctors, nurses, practice managers and students. The Network is governed by a Committee of 13 members, made up of GPs, nurses, managers, and students from around New Zealand.
We hold a contract with the New Zealand Government to provide a rural support and recruitment service, which we do through our NZLocums division. NZLocums recruits national and international doctors for fixed-term and permanent roles in rural general practices throughout New Zealand, as well as assisting urban general practices nationwide.
The Network advocates for rural General Practice through active involvement on a number of national committees and working groups, and through work with its five partner organisations the Rural Hospital Network, Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand, Students of Rural Health Aotearoa, and Rural Nurses New Zealand.
National Rural Health Conference
The Network’s annual Conference enables rural general practitioners and clinicians to gather to discuss rural health issues, present research, experiences and to network. For more information click here.
