New Zealand Organisation for Rare Disorders

The New Zealand Organisation for Rare Disorders (NZORD) was established in September 2000.  NZORD is a charitable trust that offers a central starting point for patients and families affected by rare disorders, and helps families and patients find essential information and support groups if required. 

NZORD’s mission is:

To support, assist and promote better health care and well-being for patients and their families/whanau living with a rare disorder in New Zealand.

NZORD operates on a national level and provides a large range of online resources to assist patients and their families, by providing:

·         A directory of 250 support groups

·         45 free websites

·         6 online forums for support groups

·         Regular bimonthly e-newsletters

NZORD works with rare disease groups and ensure their concerns and interests are communicated to health officials during consultation processes, this ensures that collectively our rare voices can be heard.
